Working at Columbia Food Machinery

Our team finds creative ways to use innovative machinery to improve food processing. We are constantly searching for better processing performance. 

Our salespeople are frequently involved in plant improvement projects from their inception, assisting with the initial design. Our goal is to help customers select the best equipment for their needs.

 

After the sale, our salespeople guide customers during installation and assist with commissioning and start-up. They make regular follow-up plant visits to check on performance, assisting operators and maintenance personnel. Our inside staff eagerly identifies and supplies parts and technical information needed to keep the equipment in top form.   

 

We’ve been helping processors automate and improve efficiency for over 40 years. Our employees develop deep knowledge of customer needs over their long tenure. They are recognized as excellent industry resources.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively when writing and verbally
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook

  • Able to reside within commuting distance of our office in Salem, OR

Outside Sales: Machinery

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in an industrial field
  • Three or more years’ successful experience in industrial sales
  • Strong customer support skills which lead to long-term relationships
  • Good communicator who can speak and write about machinery to engineers, plant managers, and company owners
  • Enthusiasm for assisting customers with technical questions and guidance concerning equipment application, installation, operation, and repair
  • Interest in hands-on training to learn to fine-tune and adjust specialized machinery and operator screens
  • Wants extensive training which leads to managing a productive territory with established customers
  • Interest in traveling to visit customers regularly (our salespeople typically average 70-80 out-of-town overnight stays per year)
  • Ability to legally enter Canada
  • Experience with drafting, drawings, or technical design is valuable
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. during on-site visits, start-ups, etc. in food processing plants
